How to Restring a Racquet

A lot goes into stringing a tennis racket. It is recommended you restring a tennis racquet based on the average amount of tennis you play in a week. If you play four times a week, restring your racquet four times a year. Knowing the basics is going to aid your game and your skill as a tennis player.
First: Purchase materials to restring
First, you need to buy string. How you hit the ball determines whether you need gut, natural gut or synthetic string. A stringing machine is also a necessity if you plan on doing the work yourself. Depending on the model, these machines can sport a hefty price tag but if you play a lot of tennis, purchasing a stringing machine is going to save you a lot of money over time. Read the instructions thoroughly as there are as many different types of racquets as there are machines to string them. You do not want to damage your racquet while going through the effort of restringing it.
Second: Take it to a professional
You may not feel confident in your ability to restring your racquet, or maybe you do not have the time or patience. There are professionals at a tennis club or shop that can complete this task for you. Having a tennis shop do the work is often the best method for the occasional tennis player. You can save money by purchasing your own strings prior to having the work done, thereby only paying for the labor.
