How to Hit a Backhand

Even if you are not a professional player, you can still have a great backhand hit in the game of tennis. By following simple preparation and swinging techniques, you can easily take on any competitor and score the winning point.
First: Preparation
The perfect beginning tennis stance is to stand with your feet apart, knees bent, body slightly leaning over your toes and hands in a loose grasp on the racquet. Once you notice that the tennis ball is going towards your backhand, quickly place the racquet in that hand and gain a firm grasp. Then place yourself in the area the ball is headed towards, and slightly tilt your upper torso away from the direction of the incoming ball. After you have properly prepared for the swing, you can then focus on the actual motion.
Second: The swing
Once you are properly prepared for the incoming ball, you can perform the backhand to send the ball back to your opponent in a way that sends him or her running. The trick to a proper backhand swing is to power the swing with your body instead of your arms. The best way to hit the ball with is your dominant hand, because there is more strength in that hand, and the ball can travel further. Also, remember that whatever direction the racquet faces is the direction the ball is going to go. If you keep these techniques in mind during your next tennis match, then you are well on your way to a fun and exciting tennis game!
