One of the greatest aspects of professional tennis is the array of players you encounter and cheer on. There are many different personalities of players, some eccentric, some nothing but business. There are many players past and present that the beginning fan should know about. This article highlights a few of those players.
Current famous male tennis players
There are many famous current players you should know. Probably the biggest tennis star on the planet, and a certain hall-of-famer, is Roger Federer. Federer held the number one position in the word for an amazing 237 consecutive weeks and has won 16 Grand Slam titles. His successor is the very famous and eccentric Rafael Nadal. Nadal is the current number two player in the world and is one of only two players to win the Career Grand Slam (all four Grand Slams and an Olympic Gold medal). The current number one tennis player in the world is the young and energetic Novak Djokokovic. Only 24 years old, he has won three Grand Slams.
Famous former tennis players
There are several very famous former tennis players. One of the greatest tennis players of all time is Andre Agassi, the only other player to win the Career Grand Slam. Another legend is Boris Becker, who was the youngest player ever to win Wimbledon, at only 17 years old. Over his career, Becker amassed 49 singles titles. Lastly, Bjorn Borg is one of the greatest players of all time, winning eleven Grand Slams.
